ATMO Esports: Championship Trophies
Bespoke trophies · Metal casting · Competitive awards
Sand-cast metal trophies for an annual esports tournament, produced in brass, bronze and aluminium across nine consecutive years. Each set distinct, the design language consistent.
CONCEPT
The Daymar Rally is an esports interpretation of the Dakar Rally, run annually by Atmo Esports and structured around three competitive racing categories. Each year, the tournament required a set of trophies that reflected both the spirit of the event and its real-world motorsport inspiration.
Drawing directly from the Dakar Rally’s visual identity, the trophies were conceived as physical counterparts to the endurance, terrain and character of the races they represented.
DESIGN
Existing tournament logo artwork provided a clear starting point for translating the digital identity into a physical object. The rough, utilitarian aesthetic associated with desert racing made sand-casting an appropriate manufacturing approach.
Over successive years, trophies were produced using combinations of brass, bronze and aluminium, allowing variation in material and finish while retaining a consistent overall form and recognisable design language.
REALITY
For nine consecutive years, JRDF has produced the Daymar Rally trophies, refining the design annually to ensure each set remains distinct while maintaining continuity for returning competitors.
As the tournament expanded globally, material choices were adapted to suit international shipping. Earlier brass trophies, weighing over 8kg, were replaced with aluminium versions to reduce weight and ensure practical distribution to winning teams worldwide.
