Grim Hex Environment

Grim Hex is a fictional run-down space station — industrial, layered and visually dense. The brief was to translate this atmosphere into a permanent interior within the client’s office, creating a shared recreation and hospitality space with strong identity.
Rather than a single installation, the project was conceived as an evolving environment. Each installation needed to reinforce the industrial character — exposed cabling, layered graphics, integrated screens and distressed finishes — while remaining safe, practical and suitable for daily staff use.
The objective was not simply replication, but adaptation: retaining the visual language of the original setting while embedding it within a functioning architectural framework.

The first installation established the Grim Hex identity through a permanently integrated structural sign and lighting solution. Concealed power and reinforced fixings were coordinated within the building fabric to ensure long-term stability.
The refectory followed as a hospitality anchor within the environment. Integrated screens, layered lighting and durable finishes were introduced to balance atmosphere with everyday usability.
Subsequent additions — including library and arcade elements — extend the same material language, ensuring continuity across the expanding space. Each phase is designed to integrate with existing infrastructure rather than sit independently within it.

Although the aesthetic suggests wear and improvisation, the execution is deliberate and engineered. Structural mounting, concealed services and reinforced detailing ensure the environment performs under continuous use.
Grim Hex continues to evolve through phased development, forming part of a long-term interior programme within the wider workspace.
